PREPARATIONS FOR MEETING WITH OHIO
UCF Press Release
November 26, 2002
Salute to Seniors:
This is the final career game for 20 UCF seniors: Thomas Andrews, Bobby Brewin,
Ryan Flinn, Jimmy Fryzel, Doug Gabriel, Ivery Gaskins, Sean Gaudion, Brian
Huff, Mario Jackson, Mike Mabry, Garrett McCray, Britt McGriff, Johnovan
Morgan, Elton Patterson, Chris Pilinko, Taylor Robertson, Nick Rosinski,
Asante Samuel, Josh Taylor, and Carlos Thompson. Three players (Jackson,
McCray, Rosinski) will not be able to participate because of injury. Another
senior, Jake McKibben, was unable to play all year because of injury.
Season Finales: UCF has an all-time record of 12-11 in the final game of the
year. Of those games, UCF is 12-6 at home. UCF has never won a road game to
finish the season, going 0-5. The Golden Knights will not have the opportunity
to reverse that trend this year because UCF will finish the season at home for
the 19th time in 24 years.
Sunshine State Seconds: This is the second trip to Florida for the Bobcats
this year. Ohio played the Florida Gators Sept. 14. The Bobcats put up a
fight, trailing 14-6 heading into the third quarter, before Florida pulled out
the 34-6 victory. Ohio took an early lead on a 48-yard Kevin Kerr field goal
after the Bobcats picked off Florida quarterback Rex Grossman’s first pass
attempt. The game was delayed 46 minutes because of a lightning storm that
moved through the area shortly after kickoff.
Third Time’s a Charm: This the third week in a row UCF has faced a team from
the state of Ohio. UCF has an all-time record of 11-6 against teams from the
Buckeye state, including last week’s win against Miami University in Oxford,
Ohio.
